At its first workshop in Djibouti in May 2008, the Forum commissioned a review of the available literature on the Greater Horn of Africa together with a plan for future research. Prepared by Prof. Mohammed Salih of the University of Leiden, the paper surveyed existing scholarship across the region’s politics, economies and societies, and set out the questions the Forum’s programme would take up in the years that followed.
